With all of the nifty DIY projects available online, it’s hard not to take a few hours getting your hands dirty to create something all your own. Decorating your space doesn’t have to be expensive or extremely time-consuming, and this DIY seat with storage space simply requires an old tire and some other common materials.
This finished seat has an adorable vintage feel, and it doubles as a storage bin for all your knick-knacks. It’s time to get rolling with this project and fall in love with your new chic seat!
Start by thoroughly cleaning the tire and letting it dry. You will need 100 feet of rope and some hot glue for the next portion of the project.
Glue rope down across the tire until the whole exterior of the tire is covered by rope. This takes care of the outside of the chair, and now it’s time to secure the storage space and seat!
You will need a piece of wood 17 inches in diameter to construct the bottom of the seat. Use heavy duty glue to fasten it to the tire and let dry for eight hours.
Now it is time to prepare the top of the seat that will cover the storage space! You will need a large piece of outdoor fabric, foam, and a piece of wood 15 inches in diameter. Use wood glue to attach the piece of circular foam to the piece of wood.
Wrap the piece of fabric around the wood and foam so that it covers the entire surface. Use a staple gun to attach the fabric. Place this piece on the top of the tire and you have a seat with storage space!
Feel free to decorate the storage cover with buttons or other decorations to glam it up. An elegant, personal touch goes a long way!
You are ready to store and sit in style! Use various colors of fabric to make an entire set of charismatic seats for your outdoor patio or deck. Your friends and family will fall in love as soon as they take a seat!
