America has quite a few fast food restaurants, all with varying levels of popularity, but which one is the healthiest? Taco Bell apparently. The Tex-Mex food chain has restructured its menu to cater to healthier food options. It may be hard to believe, but it’s true.
Taco Bell has a wide variety of food options, giving customers a choice between Crunch Wrap Supremes and healthier food choices that are still quick and easy to consume. Taco Bell never made a big announcement about the changes, but quietly implemented the new menu items over time, which a big marketing campaign. This is in an effort to be honest about the new healthy direction the fast-food chain is taking, without using misleading marketing as they are still a fast food chain with unhealthy food options.
Taco Bell’s dietitian and product developer, Missy Nelson, was the person behind the health food revamp. The new food uses all natural ingredients, and all choices have a 15% decrease in the amount of sodium they contain, which is both a brilliant and effective way to combat food-related illnesses. Another change is the use of only cage-free eggs in all dairy products.
In an effort to attract more customers, the chain has also made a vegetarian menu, a strictly high protein menu and a lighter low calorie menu. Meanwhile, customers can still opt to consume the Doritos shell taco as well. Using the Taco Bell App, customers can find the vegetarian menu which even comes with vegan-friendly selections.
With a few touches of a button, customers can select a customized meal that fits their dietary needs, while still being fresh, fast and affordable. Not many fast food chains can say that. All nutritional information about all menu items can easily be accessed by using the Taco Bell app, which is available for Android and iOS. Taco Bell was founded in Downey, California in 1962, and as of 2018 has over 2 billion customers visiting 7,000 restaurants.
