Over at Netflix, the online streaming service, the cast, and the crew of Stranger Things are reportedly back to work. The series had just returned to shooting for season four when the worldwide coronavirus pandemic hit earlier in the year.
After figuring out the most effective safety protocols to put into place, the production is back up and running. Not only is production geared back up, but it has been confirmed that eight new cast additions have been added to the new season.
In posts made to social media, fans have learned who the new additions are and what characters they will be playing. Included in that list is Robert Englund, the veteran horror fan favorite who brought Freddy Krueger to life in the Nightmare On Elm Street franchise.
Englund’s character is that of Victor Creel:
“A disturbed and intimidating man who is in a psychiatric hospital for a gruesome murder in the 1950s.”
Englund will be joined by Eduardo Franco (Booksmart), who is slated to play Jonathan’s new BFF, Argyle:
“A loving stoner who proudly delivers delicious pizza pies for Surfer Boy Pizza.”
Also new to the cast is Jamie Campbell Bower (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald) as Peter Ballard:
“A caring man who works as an orderly at a psychiatric hospital.”
There are several other new cast members, but the lineup looks pretty cool and impressive as a whole. What many fans may take note of is that there are no new female characters. Given that the current females on the series are strong characters, it is a given that the show will make it all work out.
I, personally, am excited to see Englund portraying a scary, unusual character, as that is what he expertly excels at. No matter how you slice it, the fourth season of Stranger Things will assuredly make up for the extra waiting time.
