I’ll admit it, I’m pretty obsessed with coasters. I don’t know where it came from, but I have about 6-7 different types of coasters around my house! They are so small but can add so much to a room. One thing I have never done however, is actually make some of my own – until now. These DIY coasters have certainly caught my eye and seem like an easy fun afternoon craft. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
What you Need:
- 4 4” tile squares – you can get these at Home Depot or even order online
- Mod Podge (if you want to use actual pictures on your coasters, use a white craft glue instead)
- Paint brush
- Scrapbook paper (or 4×4 pictures, sheet music, illustrations from books – whatever look you’re going for)
- Craft knife
Begin cutting your scrapbook paper for the tiles – if you want a border cut to 3.5”. Make sure your tiles are clean and dry, then begin to paint the backside of your paper with mod podge until covered. Place the paper onto the tile, pushing very firmly and smoothing over every inch so there are no bubbles. I would recommend using some type of roller to go over and flatten as much as possible. Repeat for all tiles and wait 15 minutes to allow glue to dry.
After 15 minutes, check for any bubbles. If you see any, pop it with a pin and then flatten out. Spread another layer of mod podge on top of the paper brushing in the same direction. Let it sit for another 15 minutes and apply another coat. Let them sit overnight and when you wake up they will be dried and ready for use!
