Santa’s Trash Christmas Cookies

Here are the ingredients that you need in order to make these cookies:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • large egg
  • 2 tsp. pure vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. kosher salt
  • 3/4 cup crushed potato chips
  • 3/4 cup crushed pretzels
  • 1 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup red and green sprinkles
  • Flaky sea salt, for garnish

Here are the directions that you need to follow in order to complete this recipe:

  1. First, you need to Preheat the oven to 350º and line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Then, in a large bowl using a hand mixer, fully cream together butter and sugars until light and fluffy, 3 to 4 minutes.
  2. Now, you need to beat in egg and vanilla until the mixture is fully combined and has a smooth consistency.
  3. In another large bowl, you need to fully whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt until combined. Add in all of the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, just a little bit at a time. This will ensure that the mix is fully combined.
  4. Now you need to gently fold in most of the potato chips, pretzels, chocolate chips, and sprinkles. Do this on a low speed of carefully mix the batter so you don’t completely destroy the add-ins. You also want to reserve some for pressing on the tops of cookies at the end.
  5. Using a medium cookie scoop, carefully scoop balls of dough (about 2 tablespoons each) onto the prepared baking sheets. Press down lightly on the top of each cookie to flatten, then press remaining potato chips, pretzels, chocolate chips, and sprinkles on top. Sprinkle with flaky salt to finish them.
  6. Bake until edges are just starting to get golden, or about 14 minutes.
  7. Remove from oven and let cool 2 to 3 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack to cool completely.
