Miniature Hamburger Casserole Recipe

Here are the ingredients that you need in order to make this recipe:

  •  2 ounces uncooked penne pasta (2/3 cup)  (You can use any pasta you want)
  •  1 tablespoon olive oil
  •  4 ounces ground beef
  •  ¼ cup chopped onions
  •  1 clove garlic, minced
  •  ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  •  ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  •  ⅛ teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
  •  ½ cup tomato sauce
  •  ¼ cup sour cream
  •  ½ cup + 2 tablespoons shredded sharp cheddar cheese, for topping


Here are the instructions that you need to follow to complete this recipe:

  1. Cook the pasta according to package directions, drain and set aside. Again, you can use any type of pasta you want or have in your pantry. However, sometimes the cooking instructions vary so it is important to follow the directions on the box.
  2. Next you need to heat the oven to 350° F (177° C).
  3. Now, in a 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat, heat oil for at least 30 seconds before you add anything to it. Now that the pan is hot enough, you can add in the ground beef, onions, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  4. The next step is to cook all of the ingredients together, breaking the ground beef up with a spoon or spatula until the meat is cooked through and no longer pink. this whole process should take about 4 minutes. When this is done, remove the pot from the heat.
  5. Now, you need to fully drain and transfer all of the ground beef and vegetables to a medium-sized bowl. Be careful, the mixture will still be very hot. 
  1. Return the pot to the heat and slowly stir in all of the tomato sauce, sour cream, cooked pasta, and 1/2 cup of the shredded cheese. Stir until the mixture is fully combined.
  2. Pour everything into a baking dish lightly greased with butter or oil. Top with the remaining 2 tablespoons of shredded cheese and bake for 20-25 minutes, until cheese is melted.
  3. Remove from oven and serve immediately.
