We all want our kitchens to be spotless and shine like a new penny. Most of us, as well, think that the only way to achieve this is through the use of chemicals. However, that is not necessarily true. There are several methods for getting a spotless kitchen that are chemical free.
When preparing your meals, the last thing you want is that pungent odor that can come up from a stinky drain. The prevent this, there is an all natural method you can use. Once every week or two place half a lemon in your garbage disposal. Lemon is a natural odor neutralizer and you will soon have a nice fresh smelling drain.
Let’s admit it—we all at one time or another have had the nastiest microwave. With it being one of the most used appliances in most households, it doesn’t take long before it is covered in baked-on—well—yuck! And that yuck soon takes on an odor all it’s own. To quickly clean your microwave, take a bowl of water with sliced up lemons in it. Heat the bowl for 2-3 minutes, and then once heated let it stand another 2-3 minutes. Then, remove the bowl and wipe down your microwave with a clean cloth.
The oven is another appliance that sees a lot of use, and as a result gets quite dirty as well. It is easy for food to spill over, and as a result turn into a grimy mess. However, you can make your own DIY oven cleaner that is chemical free. Simply add 1 ½ cups of water to a clean spray bottle. Then, add 1 tablespoon of dish liquid to the bottle. Finally, add 10 drops of citrus essential oil. Shake the bottle well, and spray liberally on your oven surfaces, allowing to set a few minutes. Then wipe the grime away with a clean cloth or paper towels.
As you can see, when it comes to cleaning your kitchen, chemical-based products are not your only choice. You can also choose to go the non-chemical route and get as good as if not better results.
