Business Insider recently announced its pick for food chain of the year for 2018 and the winner is—drumroll please—Chick-fil-A!! The restaurant chain is growing by leaps and bounds, and 2019 is being seen as no different. In fact, the chain is expected to become the third largest restaurant, based on sales, by the end of 2018.
If Chick-fil-A does indeed surge by the end of the year as predicted, that would catapult it from its current seventh place position, past such competitors as Taco Bell, Subway and even iconic Wendy’s. However, in order to reach this unprecedented speed of growth, Chick-fil-A would have to see a 12-15% increase in sales.
This really is a daunting amount, as most fast food restaurants would be happy to see a growth of at least 8% in one calendar year. The only fast food chain even close to a growth of that magnitude is that of Dominoes.
The last few years have been good to Chick-fil-A with the fast food chain growing from a southern cult favorite to become one of the most dominant chains in all of America. Chick-fil-A is getting ready to open its first chain outside the US, which only goes to show the explosive growth it has achieved.
Although Chick-fil-A is a privately held company, things have never looked better. It is estimated that the average chain store takes in $4.1 million dollars in annual sales. Just to help put this into perspective, the average annual unit sales of a KFC are around $1.2 million.
Chick-fil-A is doing well now, but that could all change in the blink of an eye. As many may know, the fast-food chain is Christian based. And as such, it has some pretty definite stands on many hot-button topics in the world today.
One of which is their stand on LGBTQ rights. Although the company has made numerous statements that they have no political or social agenda, they do stand fast to their Christian beliefs and views.
