Everybody has been told at one time or another that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. What do you do when it takes everything you’ve got to just get that cup of coffee made in the morning, much less cook yourself a meal?
Try one (or all) of these simple breakfast hacks to help you get your day started off right.
Cook Bacon In The Oven
There’s really no way for me to get into this without it starting to sound like a cheesy infomercial. Like most everyone else on the planet, I used to cook my bacon on the stovetop. It made a splattery, greasy mess! Then I realized I could cook my bacon in the oven. (Audience gasps.)
Cooking bacon in the oven allows you to make more at a time and also keeps the bacon from shriveling. The result is always crispy and perfect t’boot. Simply put a wire rack on a rimmed baking sheet and arrange your bacon strips in a single layer. After about 20 minutes in an oven heated to 450 degrees, you’re rewarded with lovely strips of pork bliss.
Bake An Egg Inside An Avocado
An avocado is a great breakfast food because it’s naturally full of healthy fats and nutrients. Eggs aren’t exactly underachievers in the vitamins department, either. You can easily prepare them together to save time and to enjoy maximum morning nourishment.
Cut an avocado in half and crack an egg in each cavity. Place on a heated cast-iron skillet, transfer to a 425-degree oven, season the tops as desired, and bake until the whites are just set and the yolks are still runny. This energy-boosting breakfast is extraordinary.
Make Mini Fritattas In A Muffin Tin
This simple recipe will allow you to make half a dozen personal frittatas and have them ready to roll for every day of the week.
Be sure to grease the muffin tin well since you won’t be using liners. Crack two eggs into each muffin cup, add in chopped onions, peppers, or whatever you like. Mix everything together with a fork. Bake the little frittatas in a 350-degree oven until they’re set and cooked through. Wrap them up and store in the fridge, reheating as needed.
